Arty, Foodie, Fairs and Festivals... it's Fun in Greenville

The weather is PERFECT for fun in Greenville these days and you know that when the sun is out and the weather is mild you can't keep us Greenvillians from playing in the middle of the street.   So fest we must!  As I rolled up the side street from the Reedy River on my bunny bicycle toward South Main to take on Artisphere, the strains of "Purple Rain" graced my rabbit ears.  A nice homage and colorful greeting to begin my tour!

Now in its 12th year, Artisphere is Greenville's signature fine art event.

It's become a May tradition for us to host award-winning visual artists and performing artists of national and international caliber, showcasing their work with an open-air Artist Row in the West End and at various venues along Main Street.

On the Main Street bridge there are lively demonstrations by glass blowers and metal workers, among others.

Street performers dance, pose and otherwise roam among the visitors.  In addition, there are performances by local youth groups and creative, educational activities for children.

Chalk artists are stirring up colorful dust on the sidewalks.

Not to be outdone, (we did say foodie at the top) the TD Saturday Farmer's Market is back on Main every Saturday and it's as yummy as ever.

On offer from 8:00 am to Noon it's a great way to kick off a day of downtown fun in Greenville.  And talk about color!

Currently featured crops in season are: Asparagus, strawberries, peaches, cabbage, broccoli, cucumbers, peas, radishes and spinach!  My mouth is watering!!!

We know that the South has a well-earned reputation as being a little sticky sometimes as the weather heats up but trust me, that's not now.  All that's sticky now is the barbecue sauce!  I love barbecued vegetables!  But I digress.  It is ideal here, so come on out in the street with us, have some fun in Greenville and enjoy life Southern style!
