Truck Inn Tuesday

Swamp Rabbit Inn and Properties started with the flagship six bedroom inn at 1 Logan Street in downtown Greenville, SC in 2014 and has expanded opening the Swamp Rabbit Inn TR in March of 2017 and six other properties along the Swamp Rabbit Trail offering short term lodging options

and a local experience right on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Owner, Wendy Lynam, shares a love of live music and and has collaborated with several Local Green musicians at the Truck Inn Tuesday events offered at the Swamp Rabbit Inn. The Swamp Rabbit Inn TR is a great location for individual room rentals and larger groups as it offers plenty of parking and a pool. Our new location is perfect for Furman families and travelers wanting a hip mountain town stay close to the best cycling and hiking in the Upstate. “We like to showcase our other properties by inviting the public into our space with fun events like Truck Inn Tuesdays and the Swamp Rabbit Music Fest” Lynam explains.

Bicycle Basket Flower Boxes Project at the Bike Shed - Swamp Rabbit Inn Weekly Video

Rent a bike in downtown Greenville SC from the Bike Shed at the Swamp Rabbit Inn This week we got creative and made some bicycle basket flower boxes.  Watch the video below to learn how.

The Bike Shed at the Swamp Rabbit Inn officially opened for the season this weekend and we have been busy, between bike rentals, sprucing up the place. There were these rickety, metal baskets on our red cruiser bikes and Wendy removed them and almost threw them away, then had an idea! Watch the video below to see how the bicycle baskets were put to use in a new way.

We love doing (Pinterest worthy) projects at the Swamp Rabbit Inn and repurposing found objects in unusual ways.  If you like the video please share it and Pin It!

Subscribe to our newsletter to get our videos delivered weekly to your inbox. Next week watch our upcoming video on a new use for old beer kegs. Hint, hint ... it may have something to do with our upcoming Third Anniversary Party and Truck Inn Tuesday on June 13, 2017 from 6 - 9 pm. You're all invited.

The Bike Shed at the Swamp Rabbit Inn rents bikes to ride the Swamp Rabbit Trail just out our front door. Call 864-517-4617 to rent a bike in downtown Greenville, SC.

Truck Inn TWO the Anniversary Celebration at the Swamp Rabbit Inn!

The-Future-Swamp-Rabbit-Inn

On June 14, 2014 The Swamp Rabbit Inn opened its shiny, refurbished doors to its first guests.  Over the past two years the Inn has welcomed hundreds of visitors to enjoy Greenville.  This Tuesday, June 14, 2016, we will be celebrating the 2 year anniversary at  Truck Inn Tuesday and hope you can join us!

It seems like forever ago since I heard the hammers at 1 Logan Street begin to transform the sleepy office building into the beloved West End hub of activity that it now is.

swamp-rabbit-inn

There was a lot to be done to outfit the six guest rooms in IKEA style, with embellishments and amenities!

When the place was as polished as can be the word went out and the guests came to see!  The greatest joy over the last two years has been hosting the interesting people who have stayed here and shared a little of their lives with us.  It's been a blast, really, and NEVER a dull moment.

One of the first groups to give us a try were Velo Girl Rides on their Cycle to Farm Tour.

In December of that first year we were thrilled to receive a 2014 GGAR Revitalization Award for the Swamp Rabbit Inn in downtown Greenville, SC.

Trip advisor made us a top rated B&B.  And we got listed for wedding accommodations on The Knot.

A lot of articles were written.  A lot.

Travel writers like Travels with Darley  and Bikabout came, and rode, and wrote, and made videos.

Meanwhile, Innkeeper Wendy Lynam, was a busy bee opening other properties to welcome all manner of travelers to Greenville...

new kit

It's been a jam-packed two years already and I haven't even gotten to the animals - the rooster, the chickens, the dog Halloween Costume Contest...!  Please stay tuned, or better yet, bike on over and check us out.  Or, check Inn!  (see what I did there)

This history making is only just beginning.  To be continued...

Playing in the Street - Festival Season in Greenville!!!

Road block!!!  Greenvillians running (cycling, eating, drinking, dancing...) amok in the middle of the street!!!  Don’t be alarmed.  It’s festival time!  Greenville has a list of public events as your long as your arm ( roughly 300, give or take) and we’re just about to launch into it.  I’m an expert on the low down so I’ll cover our more immediate headliners first and then clue you in on a couple of quirkier romps and do my best to keep you apprised of festive opportunities as the warmer months unfold.  The Swamp Rabbit Inn is so conveniently located we would love to serve as your home base from which to go cavorting.  Let's go outside and play!!!

Albino Skunk

MUSIC!!  April 7th - 9th Spring Albino Skunk Music Fest - The festival got its name from the sightings of white skunks on the grounds.  Originally founded as a bluegrass music festival, SkunkFest now features all sorts of mostly acoustic music – including Americana, Folk, Singer-Songwriter, Alt. Country, Acoustic, Roots and Bluegrass. It’s held on the grounds of Glynn and Susan Zeigler’s old farm place north of Greer.  It was initially private but is now open to the music-loving public.  Local food vendors, craft beers served up by The Community Tap, Handmade Crafts, Kiddieland with playground, activities, kid’s shows & drive-in movie, and Edible Upcountry’s Farmers Market are some of the attractions besides the phenomenal music.  Primitive tent camping &  RV Camping area (sorry no hook-ups) on site within easy walking distance to everything.  No shuttles needed from camping areas or the parking lot.

Bikeville Classic

CYCLING!! April 16th - 17th Bikeville Classic - Notus Sports and USA Cycling, in partnership with VisitgreenvilleSC, hosts the Volkswagon USA Cycling Professional Criterium and Team Time Trial National Championships,  presented by Greenville Health System.

This race-filled weekend will determine the national champions in the Criterium and Team Time Trial.  Categorized amateur racers are also taking the start line Sunday on the same course as the professionals. On Saturday, amateurs can race the team time trial course and compare their times to the professionals. You don’t need to be a racer to enjoy the weekend. Before the racers take to the time trial course, the Southern Connector Ride kicks off at 8 AM on Saturday.

Join us at the Swamp Rabbit Inn after the races on the 17th for Truck Inn Tuesday, 6-10 p.m., for local food and music!

BEER!!  April 23rd, Noon to 4 p.m.  at Larkin's Sawmill - 22 Graves Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.  The Community Tap's fourth annual Craft Beer Festival features over 50 of our favorite craft breweries from all over the US, focusing on small-batch brews and one-off kegs - this isn't your normal beer fest. Friday: Great Scot! parade downtown and Ceilidh music on the TD Stage in the Peace Center Amphitheater. Saturday: Scottish Games at Furman.

And you can't miss the All-Day Border Collie Invitationals and watch really smart animals (okay, the sheep aren't too smart) herd sheep and ducks, all to the tune of a whistle.  A car, dare I say, nut?  Come to one of the most beautiful malls (not the shopping kind, the oak-tree canopied kind) in the country at Furman and check out the antique British cars, some of which you've never seen.  Have you served in the military?  Be at our Opening Ceremonies for the and let us honor and thank you like you deserve.

Do you have small children?  Wee Scotland is for you, and them.  They'll get a passport to admit them to their own Scottish village, and you can enjoy them enjoying us.  Teens, young adults, not-so-young adults?  Celtic rock bands!  Whoa!  Like to watch world championship athletics?  Got you covered, we have been awarded the World Masters Championship for Heavy Athletes, you have got to see this to believe it.  Watch for the Japanese guy in a kilt throwing really heavy stuff.

Beefy dudes in kilts!  And I thought I was furry!  I think we have it covered... for now.  Did you see anything you like?  Yeah, thought so!   See you here for springtime in Greenville SC!

Unique vacation and staycation options at Swamp Rabbit Inn

It’s safe to say that Truck INN Tuesdays is now a summer staple at the Swamp Rabbit Inn in downtown Greenville. If you haven’t experienced one yet, you should for a few reasons. #1- Greenville is an amazing place with loads of fun activities and music, but they primarily cluster around the Friday, Saturday, Sunday portion of the week. Truck INN Tuesdays happen on, well, you’re smart folks. #2- the growth of Greenville is happening rapidly but the West End lacks an abundance of food options; not only do we offer Food Truck snacks and dinners, but many local food makers, and King of Pops make it an all encompassing epicourian experience. #3- The West End in general is on the cusp of revitalization and expansion. It’s a great part of town to walk or ride your bicycle to explore what this great southern city has to offer.

So come see us. Take a tour of the Swamp Rabbit Inn. Eat and drink with your friends while listening to local music. Buy and support local makers and crafters. It’s not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening.
